GUIDE

How accurate is AI quoting software?

Accuracy in this category is measured field by field, not as a single number: each extracted value carries a confidence score and a link to the document region it came from, and anything below a threshold is flagged for a person rather than accepted automatically. Any vendor's headline accuracy figure, including Customiser's own, should say how it was measured before it is compared to another.

What does 'accurate' mean for a quoting tool?

Not one thing. A bend count either matches the geometry or it does not, a title-block field either matches the drawing or it does not, and a price is only as good as the rates it was built from. A meaningful accuracy claim states which of these it is measuring, since a tool can be excellent at one and unproven at another.

How should accuracy actually be measured?

Against a shop's own historical quotes, not a vendor's internal test set. A sound onboarding process runs the tool in parallel with the shop's existing process on real, already-quoted jobs, and compares the output field by field before either side treats the new numbers as reliable.

What happens when the system is not sure?

A confidence score below the shop's own threshold routes that field to a person rather than letting a guess through. This is the actual accuracy mechanism, not a side feature: a tool that never says 'not sure' is either extremely good or is hiding its failure cases behind a plausible-looking number.

Does higher accuracy mean less oversight?

No, and it should not. The review step stays in place regardless of measured accuracy, because the cost of one wrong quote reaching a customer is higher than the cost of one extra minute of review. Accuracy earns trust in the numbers being reviewed, not permission to stop reviewing them.
